Job Title: Community Theatre Technician

Location: The Dovehouse Theatre, Olton, Solihull.

Job Summary: Working in a busy community theatre providing technical support and advice to Incoming companies.

Responsibilities and duties: liaise with venue team and hirers to identify and discuss technical needs for incoming events.

Oversee get-ins and get-outs. Rig, program and operate lighting, sound, AV and staging. Ensuring a smooth transition between educational drama workshop and professional community venue.

Liaise with venue management to book in any additional event staff and equipment.

Report and carry out ongoing maintenance and improvements.

Hours: Part-time, Average of 50hrs per month plus overtime. Mostly evenings and weekends.

Qualifications: Desired but not essential – Technical theatre/Stage management/Events qualification at college level or above.

Experience:  Desired but not essential – Experience working in Theatre or live events, technical or stage management departments.

Skills:

Required – Good communication, able to communicate with colleagues and clients at different levels of expertise.

Required – Basic knowledge of theatre lighting. Able to rig theatre lights safety, program and operate a small-scale lighting rig and identify any potential issues.

Required – Basic Knowledge of theatre sound set up and operating a sound desk.

Required – Basic Knowledge of theatre AV set up and operating.

Desired but not essential – Knowledge of the ETC Eos lighting systems.

Desired but not essential – Knowledge of the Behringer x32 digital sound desk.

Desired but not essential – a basic working knowledge of Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
